Train to Retain

Would you rather train and develop your employees with the possibility that they might leave? Or have poorly skilled employees at the risk they might stay? For a company to be successful shouldn’t it constantly stay ahead of the game? And if so, why is Training and Development the first to be cut when money is tight?

The fact is that the greatest resource in any organisation is the people within it. Your people are your most expensive resource so why not try to retain them?

It is fair to say that it is cheaper and easier to retain clients than acquire new ones. The same applies to your employees. The cost to recruit and train a new employee is much higher than the cost to retain and develop an existing one.

How well a business performs is often dependant on how well it has trained and developed its people.

Individuals need on-going training and development to help them become more effective, more motivated in order to surprise themselves when taking more significant challenges. The need to acquire new skills as the nature of their work and your organisation changes is crucial for the continual success of both parties.

As people become comfortable in their roles, they tend to develop their own styles. This can lead to complacency and it is this complacency which leads them to normally leaving their manager not the company. Why? Because, the manager did not prevent the complacency from occurring.

Taking a few moments to train your people will only add greater value to them, your organisations and your customers. Isn’t time you thought about training for retaining?
