Council seeks information on broadband access
Communities, businesses and residents in Monmouthshire are to receive an opportunity to develop support for faster Internet broadband access by taking part in a survey conducted by the county council.
In conjunction with the Rural Development Plan for Wales, the council’s adventa programme is aiming to make grants available to suitable neighbourhoods identified by the survey. These would allow the development of social enterprises delivering broadband to the heart of the community
The survey, http://www.monmouthshire.gov.uk/broadband will take about five minutes to complete. It will also assist the council to develop a sound basis for gauging broadband support across the county, guide moves toward digital inclusion and inform policy.
Paper copies of the survey can be obtained from the council’s one stop shops in Abergavenny, Caldicot, Chepstow and Monmouth or branch libraries. Survey forms must be returned by March 9th.
Monmouthshire’s cabinet member for Modernisation, Enterprise and Communications, Councillor Bob Greenland said:
“Improved broadband connection for more of the county’s rural areas will provide a huge boost for local business, help inward investment, enhance people’s leisure options and open opportunities to aid education.”
Deserie Mansfield, adventa‘s Social Enterprise Development Officer added:
“I am interested in hearing from individuals, businesses or communities who wish to register interest in the developing broadband scheme.”
